A noisy fan and a bathroom that stays steamy can have different causes. Fan condition, duct routing, external termination and the way replacement air enters the room all matter. A grille that looks clear does not establish that the system is extracting effectively.
Separate noise from poor extraction
A noisy fan and a bathroom that stays steamy can have different causes. Fan condition, duct routing, external termination and the way replacement air enters the room all matter. A grille that looks clear does not establish that the system is extracting effectively.
Check normal controls only
Note whether the fan runs with the light, on a timer or through a humidity control. Use only normal user controls and the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Do not remove a mains-connected fan, reach into moving parts or access an external vent using an unsafe ladder arrangement.
Why a fan swap may not solve it
A higher-powered replacement is not automatically the right answer. A restricted duct or unsuitable installation can leave the original problem unresolved. Bathroom electrical positioning and protection also need professional assessment. Repeated condensation should be considered alongside room use, heating and other moisture sources rather than blamed on one component.
Prepare a ventilation enquiry
Send TradesFix the Liverpool postcode, visible fan model and photos of accessible grilles. Explain when steam lingers, whether the fan has become louder and if there is staining or a leak nearby. Agree whether the visit is for diagnosis, a compatible replacement or a wider ventilation improvement.
