A sealed heating system normally operates within a manufacturer-specified pressure range. Repeated pressure loss can point to a leak, expansion-vessel issue, pressure-relief discharge or another fault.
Understanding the issue
A sealed heating system normally operates within a manufacturer-specified pressure range. Repeated pressure loss can point to a leak, expansion-vessel issue, pressure-relief discharge or another fault.
What to check
Check the pressure gauge when the system is cold and look for obvious signs of water around radiators, valves and visible pipework. Avoid repeatedly topping up without finding the cause.
When to get advice
A one-off small drop may be simple to correct, but frequent loss needs diagnosis. Persistent repressurising introduces fresh water and can contribute to corrosion.
