Record the zone and timing
Save the panel message or event time and note which zone activated, if the normal user display shows it. Mention recent building work, a power interruption, changed room use or pets. Do not share alarm codes, app passwords or detailed security layouts in public messages.
Avoid disabling the system
Use the manufacturer’s normal user instructions to silence or reset an alarm where appropriate. Do not open control panels, disconnect batteries, bypass tamper protection or leave zones permanently disabled to stop the noise. Wired and wireless systems have different maintenance needs, and some faults need installer access.
Prepare for an alarm visit
Tell TradesFix the alarm make, Liverpool property postcode and whether it is monitored or under a maintenance agreement. A monitored system may require coordination with the existing provider before changes. Agree whether the visit covers diagnosis, servicing or replacement, and ask how any temporary loss of protection will be managed.
This is general information, not a substitute for inspecting your property. Do not work on gas equipment or live electrical parts unless appropriately qualified. If there is immediate danger, call 999. If you smell gas or suspect a gas escape, leave the affected area and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from a safe location. Do not operate electrical switches or use naked flames.
