Start with the entrances or parts of your own property you need to monitor, rather than buying a package based only on camera count. An overview of a driveway and a useful view of someone approaching a door are different objectives. Lighting and the camera angle affect the result.

Plan power, cables and recording
Discuss cable routes, recorder location, internet reliability and access for maintenance before installation. Compare what recording continues during an internet outage and what requires a subscription. Decide who needs access to the app, and keep account credentials private when asking for a quote.
Consider other people’s privacy
Aim to minimise unnecessary recording of neighbours, shared spaces and public areas. Capturing beyond your boundary can bring data-protection responsibilities; use current ICO guidance for your circumstances. Consider privacy masking, retention settings and whether audio is genuinely necessary. A camera installation is not a guarantee against crime.
Ask for a practical site assessment
For a Liverpool property, send TradesFix a simple plan showing intended coverage and any existing equipment. Mention flats, shared entrances or rented premises before work is agreed. Ask the installer to explain handover, passwords, updates, ongoing storage costs and how to export footage if needed.
This is general information, not a substitute for inspecting your property. Do not work on gas equipment or live electrical parts unless appropriately qualified. If there is immediate danger, call 999. If you smell gas or suspect a gas escape, leave the affected area and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from a safe location. Do not operate electrical switches or use naked flames.
