Water beneath a sink may come from the tap connections, supply pipework, waste fittings or a connected appliance. If water is escaping continuously, use a known isolation valve only if safe and easy to operate. Keep clear of wet plugs, sockets and appliance connections.

Notice when water appears
After an existing spill has been contained safely, note when you previously saw the leak: with the tap off, while water was running, as the sink emptied, or during a washing-machine cycle. Photograph the visible wet area without deliberately recreating a large leak or using an appliance suspected to be faulty.
Avoid dismantling the connections
Do not assume every plastic joint needs tightening. Misalignment, damaged seals and unsuitable fittings cannot necessarily be corrected that way, and overtightening can make matters worse. Leave concealed pipework and difficult isolation points for a plumber. Tell them if drain chemicals have already been used.
Send useful repair details
Clear stored items only where safe, keeping the fitting accessible. Send TradesFix a wider cupboard photo as well as a close-up, your Liverpool postcode and whether the leak is active. Mention a waste-disposal unit, boiling-water tank or integrated appliance because these can affect access and the agreed scope.
This is general information, not a substitute for inspecting your property. Do not work on gas equipment or live electrical parts unless appropriately qualified. If there is immediate danger, call 999. If you smell gas or suspect a gas escape, leave the affected area and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from a safe location. Do not operate electrical switches or use naked flames.
